On April 30, 2026, two voters and a congressional candidate filed a competing action against Louisiana v. Callais in the Middle District of Louisiana. The lawsuit seeks to bind Louisiana from enacting a remedy to the unconstitutional racial gerrymander invalidated by the Western District of Louisiana in 2024. The Western District's opinion in Callais was affirmed by the Supreme Court of the United States on April 29, 2026.
