CASE SUMMARY
On March 1, 2022, a Pennsylvania state Senator filed a petition with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court challenging Pennsylvania’s 2021 Legislative Reapportionment Commission’s adopted state Senate redistricting plan as excessively dividing political subdivisions in violation of article II, § 16 of the Pennsylvania Constitution. Plaintiff sought a judicial declaration the plan was unconstitutional and a court order remanding the plan back to the Commission for revision.
- On March 16, 2022, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued an order upholding the plan as constitutional and dismissing all challenges pending against it.
