CASE SUMMARY

Proponents of a constitutional amendment aimed at creating an independent redistricting commission brought a challenge to the Ohio Ballot Board's adopted ballot language in the Ohio Supreme Court on August 19, 2024. The Relators alleged "myriad defects" in the adopted language and asked t/he Ohio Supreme Court to mandate that the Ohio Ballot Board draft new language.

The Ohio Supreme Court required changes to two parts of the ballot language, but left in place the description that the amendment required gerrymandering.
