On October 23, 2020, the Minority Leaders of the Arizona House and Senate filed a state lawsuit against the state Commission on Appellate Court Appointments arguing that the Commission failed to nominate qualified individuals to the pool of candidates for the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission, citing eligibility restrictions under Article IV, Part 2, § 1 of the Arizona Constitution.
