CASE SUMMARY
On August 9, 2023, a coalition of plaintiffs filed a federal lawsuit against various state defendants in the Middle District of Tennessee alleging Tennessee's Congressional and State Senate districts (specifically the Congressional districts connected to Davidson County and the Senate Districts in Shelby County) were created with unlawful use of race and subordinated traditional redistricting principles to race in violation of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments.
