CASE SUMMARY
The United States brought this lawsuit against Fayette County, Tennessee's Board of County Commissioners districts on January 15, 2025. The suit alleges the county diluted the voting strength of its black population in violation of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. The Fayette-Somerville Branch of the NAACP filed a separate case on February 27, 2025.*
