CASE SUMMARY
On January 31, 2022, the Florida Supreme Court issued an order on its own initiative directing the Clerk of Court to open this case in anticipation of the Florida Attorney General’s petition for a declaratory judgment as to the validity of the Florida Legislature’s legislative apportionment joint resolution, as mandated by article III, § 16(c) of the Florida Constitution.
- On February 9, 2022, the Florida Attorney General filed its petition. Both chambers of the Florida Legislature filed briefs in support of the joint resolution of apportionment.
- On March 3, 2022, the Court approved the apportionment plans as valid.
